Mycenae is one of the most important archaeological sites of ancient Greece and a major center of the Mycenaean civilization (c. 1600–1100 BCE). Known as the legendary kingdom of Agamemnon, Mycenae played a central role in Greek mythology and the epic tradition of the Iliad.
